Course Overview
Youth workers help young people make positive changes in their lives and develop the skills to make positive decisions in the future.This qualification is suitable for those aiming to work in positions responsible for the development and outcomes of programs and services for young people. During this course, you will learn how to support the holistic welfare of teenagers and youth (12-24), including their safety, emotional health, and social connectivity.
Our CHC50421 Diploma of Youth Work has been designed in consultation with experts in the industry to make sure your learning is comprehensive and applicable to the current youth work sector.
This qualification reflects the role of workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental, and protection needs of young people. This work may be undertaken through employment in the community, government, and youth sector agencies. Workers will be responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation largely self-directed with fairly autonomous decision-making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager.

Enrolment
Enrolment in the program is for a maximum of 24 months. We find our students complete the qualification in varied time frames. It really does depend on your life situation, and availability.Students must aim to complete modules by the nominated completion date, and as a minimum must demonstrate ongoing progression towards completion.
Vocational Placement
To be assessed as competent in this qualification, you must complete 200 hours of relevant supervised work placement including 100 hours Case Management. These hours can not be completed concurrently and 100 hours minimum must be evidenced in each area. Of these hours:
•100 hours must be completed in work directly related to planning, monitoring and reviewing case management. Case management work can be completed autonomously or in consultation with supervisor or team leader.
•100 hours must be completed providing community services to individuals based on socio-cultural information gathered, monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of services provided in consultation with supervisor or team leader.
Resources Required
All students require computer or tablet with access to the Internet and a program that can open and edit Word documents (this does not have to be Microsoft Office).
Delivery Options
Elearning
This course is delivered via our online learning system You do not need to come to class, however, you will need to keep in contact with your Educator and attend phone and/or web meetings to complete some of the practical components of your course. Elearning allows you the flexibility of completing your course at your own pace, at times to suit work and other life commitments. You can work on your course at anytime, anywhere supported by your industry experienced Educator via telephone and email communication no matter where you are.
Distance
Distance learning allows you to have the same amount of convenience and flexibility as online or blended learning. The only difference is that instead of studying online, you will be studying via workbooks. Distance learning is perfect for students that prefer to have hard copy resources. Participants wishing to complete their qualification via distance instead of online will incur additional material and postage fees up to the value of $25.00 per unit.
RPL
If you have lots of experience and skills but no formal qualification you might want to consider Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL is a process whereby you demonstrate that you currently have the required skills and knowledge for particular units/qualifications that you want to achieve recognition for.
