Course Overview
Supporting the youth supports the future. During this course, you will gain the skills and knowledge to support people in many different circumstances such as; social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental, and protection situations. Helping them to turn themselves around and enrich their lives for the better. You will learn how to organise and provide beneficial programs and activities to meet the needs of youth individuals.
Our CHC40421 Certificate IV in Youth Work has been designed in consultation with experts in the industry to make sure your learning is comprehensive and applicable to the current youth work sector. This qualification is suitable for those aiming to work in positions responsible for the development and outcomes of programs and services for young people. During this course, you will learn how to support the holistic welfare of teenagers and youth (12-24), including their safety, emotional health, and social connectivity.
Youth Workers assist young people as individuals or groups to solve social, emotional, and financial problems in an agency framework. Work may include day-to-day support of individuals in community settings or support the implementation of specific community-based programs in a range of community organisations.

Enrolment
Enrolment in the program is for a maximum of 24 months. We find our students complete the qualification in varied time frames. It really does depend on your life situation, and availability.Students must aim to complete modules by the nominated completion date, and as a minimum must demonstrate ongoing progression towards completion.
Vocational Placement
To be assessed as competent in this qualification, you must complete 80 hours of relevant supervised work placement. It is your responsibility to source your placement. However, we will assist where possible. Depending on where you undertake your placement, you may also need to undergo a police check and will be required to meet the working with children checks in your state. Community Service Organisations may include:
• Centre-based work: such as – drop-in centres, neighbourhood centres
• Community organisations, recreational facilities
• Housing and residential services
• Homelessness services, youth refuge
• Outreach and home visits
Resources Required
All students require computer or tablet with access to the Internet and a program that can open and edit Word documents (this does not have to be Microsoft Office).
Delivery Options
Elearning
This course is delivered via our online learning system You do not need to come to class, however, you will need to keep in contact with your Educator and attend phone and/or web meetings to complete some of the practical components of your course. Elearning allows you the flexibility of completing your course at your own pace, at times to suit work and other life commitments. You can work on your course at anytime, anywhere supported by your industry experienced Educator via telephone and email communication no matter where you are.
Distance
Distance learning allows you to have the same amount of convenience and flexibility as online or blended learning. The only difference is that instead of studying online, you will be studying via workbooks. Distance learning is perfect for students that prefer to have hard copy resources. Participants wishing to complete their qualification via distance instead of online will incur additional material and postage fees up to the value of $25.00 per unit.
RPL
If you have lots of experience and skills but no formal qualification you might want to consider Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL is a process whereby you demonstrate that you currently have the required skills and knowledge for particular units/qualifications that you want to achieve recognition for.
